# Sphere

A human interface.

## What is this

Most interfaces are between a human and a machine.
This one is between humans.

It doesn't have users. It has presence.
It doesn't have accounts. It has time and place.
It doesn't have notifications. It has resonance.

## How it works

You don't log in. You arrive.

Your identity is when you are and where you are. 23:00 in Oslo on a Friday is a different room than 07:00 on a Tuesday in Bergen. The system doesn't decide this. The atmosphere does.

There is a stream. Everything lives in it — music, thoughts, images, places. There are no categories. Just things that happen.

## Proximity

The stream is filtered by distance — physical and emotional.

What is near you is loud. What is far is quiet. When you are with someone, the stream becomes shared. When you are alone, it becomes yours.

## Temperature

You warm up by being present. Not by doing anything. Time is the currency.

Cold visitors can listen. Warm ones can suggest. But temperature is not a gate — it's gravity. A cold suggestion drifts to the back. A warm one rises.

## Three modes

**Open** — the stream flows. Things that are near bubble up.

**Near** — you and another person. Everything else dims.

**Away** — you increase the distance to everything. The stream waits.

Transitions between modes are soft. You turn down, you don't turn off.

## The "no" problem

Most social systems force you to take a position — accept, decline, like, ignore. Everything has a cost. Even ignoring is a signal.

Here, you never say no. You just look the other way. Nobody knows what is blurry for you.

## Sessions

Your session is light enough to throw away, but warm enough to come back to.

- Device-based. Your browser remembers you, not a server.
- No obligation. Delete the cookie, you're new again. That's fine.
- Not visible to others. Nobody knows if you're "new" or "old."
- Cultural. Your language, your calendar, your sense of what a weekend is. Culture is not a setting — it's part of how close you feel to someone.

GET  /sphere/suggest  — search for something to put into the stream
POST /sphere/suggest  — offer something to the stream
